What's your business, and who are your customers?
As a coach, I help lawyers, executives, and business owners over 50 escape corporate life and create a meaningful next chapter. Many high achievers want to continue using their skills and experience to make an impact, just not at the breakneck pace they've been keeping. I help them discover that it is possible to keep working and invest in their longevity.
Tell us about yourself
As a former C-suite executive, I was so driven that it took a heart procedure to convince me something had to change. In reality, I had been burned out for some time. I just didn't think I had other options, financially or emotionally. Once I realized that coaching was my calling, I wanted to give others the help I wish I had received. Helping 50 and 60-somethings find the possibilities that fulfill them is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I haven't looked back once.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Changing my brand: from a nationally known communications strategist to an expert coach.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Knowing when to turn off and take a break!!!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be very clear and specific about your ideal customer; know their habits as well as their fears and desires.
- If you don't have marketing expertise, hire it. Not all social media are for everyone, and there are other channels that may serve you as well or better.
- Have a cushion of at least 18 months to live on before you rely on your business.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Entrepreneurs over 50 have a higher chance of success than many younger folks. We have the skills, the network, and the resources. You just have to believe in yourself.
