Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jessica Jacques, Founder of JTB Studios, located in Uxbridge, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

JTB Studios is the premier destination in the Blackstone Valley for boutique fitness, yoga, nutrition, massage therapy, skincare, hair services, and more! Designed as a comprehensive location for total transformation from the inside out, we are the place for you. Whether you want to create a new look, become more connected with your body, or just give yourself some time to reset, our expert staff and therapists can help.

Tell us about yourself

I adore the movement of all kinds. Flow state and dropping into my body (and out of my head) are tools that have helped me manage ongoing anxiety and depression for decades. I accidentally stumbled onto my yoga mat at age 15 and realized over time that creativity, strength, and grace are accessible to all of us with the right amount of simply just showing up for ourselves regularly.

With all of my offerings, the intention is clear- I want you to find joy in this human experience. I want to help you understand that you are your own best healer and empower you with mindfulness, movement, and recovery skills that can become your best friend for life.

I started JTB about ten years ago, just after I graduated from Bancroft School of Massage Therapy while on maternity leave. (Cuz when you’ve just launched a human life, why not launch a business too?) What started as a solo massage practice has blossomed into a full-scale brick-and-mortar wellness center, salon, and spa and now also a virtual worldwide yoga and group fitness platform! Wherever you’re at, I am honored that you somehow landed here, and I can’t wait to hear about all of your goals and help you get there. What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Expansion! I feel so proud of having grown my team and our offerings over the years while maintaining our core values of acceptance, inclusion, and self-expression.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is figuring out what motivates people and leading and inspiring my team in a way that matters to them. Work/life balance is always a challenge as well! I feel like I could work around the clock and still not feel like I have everything done.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself wholeheartedly.
  2. Find humor in the hard times- there will be a lot of them- and they are all opportunities for some type of growth!
  3. No one else is ever going to be as invested in your business as you are, so give grace to those who are supporting you on this journey and remember to lead by example.
