Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordan Trinagel, founder of Health Reconditioned, located in New York, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The real question isn't how we can treat your symptoms; it is why you are having symptoms in the first place. My business is online health coaching with a focus on functional medicine, which answers this exact question. I'm sure you've gone to the doctor, and they have said all your lab results look normal or that you have a new diagnosis with a new medication to take but haven't you wondered how and why it happened? I use specialty at-home lab tests that look at different markers to understand what is going on in your body to cause imbalance and symptoms in order to create a plan to reverse disease!

Tell us about yourself

I am a licensed occupational therapist and have worked in rehab facilities and hospitals, treating patients with every diagnosis under the sun. Still, I noticed that there was a gap. While I was focused on providing therapy to patients after injury, accident, illness, or exacerbation of chronic disease, I wondered who was focused on helping these people BEFORE they came to the hospital and preventing them from ever being admitted in the first place? Especially after COVID, I realized there has to be a change, so I decided to focus on virtual health coaching, health promotion, disease prevention rather than symptom treatment.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, the biggest accomplishment was actually deciding that I was going to start a business. It was a thought I had for a while, but then I invested in myself as a business coach and started taking action steps to make it happen. The hardest part is always getting started, but the accomplishment was actually committing myself to reach my goals.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Getting over the judgment from friends, family, coworkers. It is hard enough when you are unsure of yourself and your business because you have no business or sales experience, but it's even harder when you have people in your world who are also questioning you.

Working on your mindset is the hardest part of being a business owner because it's new and scary, and you may feel like you made a mistake, not having a secure job, but it can also be the best decision of your life.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in yourself and in a good business coach. you can't do it on your own, or if you do, it will take a long time, and then you may give up
  2. Do some work on yourself and your mindset because it's a hard road to choose to be a solopreneur, but it can also be the most rewarding. you can't give up, but you can also pivot
  3. Get clear on your WHY. Build the program/ offer and business on a personal deep routed purpose because if it's not meaningful to you, then you won't work for it.
