What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the owner and CEO of New Vibes Health & Acupuncture in Denver, CO. We help people to stay healthy and heal from pain, digestive disorders, insomnia, emotional instability such as anxiety and depression, menstrual disorders, and much more. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been used for thousands of years to heal a variety of ailments.

Tell us about yourself

My journey toward better health began at age 12 when I was diagnosed with spinal scoliosis. I struggled with severe pain through my teens, and doctors suggested surgery. Even at a young age, I was not willing to accept that and knew there had to be a better way to heal my body! At 19 years old, I went to a yoga class at my gym and gave it a try. After about a month, I noticed that my pain had reduced, and my mom pointed out that I was standing up straighter. From that point on, I was hooked on yoga and found it to be healing and restorative. I have healed myself from scoliosis and am inspired to teach others to do the same. That led me to teach yoga and personal fitness training as I was studying for my undergraduate degree. For about ten years, I taught yoga, fitness, meditation, and dance as my main profession.

There came the point where I became bored with those things and wanted something more. I considered chiropractic medicine or naturopathic medicine as my next career step, but I ended up studying Chinese medicine. Entrepreneurship runs in my family, so once I received my master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, I created New VIbes Health & Acupuncture. The name came from my desire to raise the vibrations here on planet Earth and, of course, from my last name. :)

It is very fulfilling to help patients heal and empower people to take their healthcare and wellness into their own hands. I know that I am living my purpose by serving others with my gifts in medicine and wellness education.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, I have been working to scale for several years now. I have finally gotten to the point where I can go on vacation for a week and have a solid team of professionals run the business for me. By being able to scale in this way, I can have a greater impact on the community and help more people to live healthier and happier lives.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is the uncertainty that comes with making important decisions. The company, employees, and customers rely on me to make the right decisions. I do my best every day to use my intuition and stay true to my business vision in order to make the right choices.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Check in with your heart. Is your desire to start a business coming from your heart's true calling or simply an egotistical desire to make money? Your heart will never lead you astray.
  2. Take the leap! If you know what your purpose is and have a vision of creating something new, DO IT! Fear and uncertainty may inhibit you from moving forward, but you must prevail beyond those feelings and make your dreams happen.
  3. Stay persistent in your actions and dedicated to your vision. Be willing to pivot as needed because there are always unseen variables.
