What's your business, and who are your customers?
For the past 30 years, I have been in practice as a psychotherapist and, for twenty of those years, a pilot and aircraft owner as well. I own Cascade Counseling Incorporated and as well provide life coaching and consultations, and I am a nationwide speaker. I combine the psychology of flight and the psychology of life for pilots.
Tell us about yourself
I think I was probably born a Social Worker. I have always been keenly aware of social causes, justice, inclusion, and helping folks have wonderful life. My purpose in life is to inspire, educate and support people. I love helping folks I work with find their purpose and make decisions that fund that purpose.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would say longevity is a big accomplishment. Second I have never had to really advertise or market to clients. Most of my business is word of mouth and based on my reputation.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The fact that no one will ever care about your business as much as you do. This can lead to overwork, which was especially bad during the pandemic.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get a professional business consultation at the beginning.
- Figure out your relationship to money and success.
- Find mentors in your field so you can have support.
