Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Joie Kya, Spiritual & Leadership Development Coach, based in Sacramento, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My name is Joie Kya; I'm a conscious business mentor & strategist. I'm all about helping feminized leaders make their impact in the world.

My mission is to see women empowered with the ability to create their own revenue streams that light them up. We need more female-led businesses that are developing, growing, and leading conscious brands & companies. I'm deeply passionate about community, collaboration, connection, and threading our hearts into work. I know that being a soulful leader takes courage, heart, a deep connection to one's truth, and showing up even when it's hard.

My method is both tactical action steps that create results paired with an ability to surrender our hold on full control of all things. This approach is deeply rooted in my journey as a business owner, creator, leader, author, speaker, and seeker of all things spirituality. I always say I have one foot in both intellect and intuition, and working with me will give you the same point of view. It's from this space that we can take our wisdom and create true wealth and freedom.

Tell us about yourself

At one point in time, I lost sight of who I was, I felt stuck in a job that burned me out, and my marriage was falling apart. I had three children under the age of five, and it seemed like I was failing at everything. I felt desperate for change, But then I reconnected to my soul's journey...I began to tap into my inner knowing. I began the journey of figuring out my why and, in that discovery, realized that I had a voice and message that I wanted to share with others.

The most powerful year of my life was in 2007 when I rediscovered myself. I began a journey of exploration, meditation, ritual, and wellness practices. It was the year that I saw life through full-color lenses. The most profound truth was that I didn't have to live life the way the world carved it out to be. I was a powerful manifestor and creator. I could change my current reality.

And so...I did. I left my corporate job in 2011 and haven't looked back. I now get to wake up and serve from my heart, and that awakens me each and every day. When it gets hard, I sink back into my why and remember that we all have the potential to create the life we want.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There are many milestones that I'm proud of; being in business for over a decade is a big deal. I'm most proud of that; I've shown up non-stop for twelve years and asked myself, what's next? And now I get to help others create their love legacy in the world that I'm thrilled about.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the most challenging things is when you've put everything into something that just isn't working anymore. I've opened and closed businesses and started and ended live events. The hardest thing is listening to your inner knowing and trusting the cycle of life and death in your services, products, etc. I have found this is why I hire mentors and stay in communities with other high-vibe female leaders; it gives me clarity, accountability, and a visionary mindset.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I love this question. Number One, trust the magic that is inside of you; you have a soul gift that is needed in the world. Don't keep it hidden; we need you. Number Two, surround yourself with other leaders and change-makers. I believe the future of business is in collaboration and connection with other business owners. We are better together, and no one said we must go it alone. Number Three, do something each day that scares you. Take risks; you never know when you will get the yes; create your next big opportunity. If we don't ask, we will never get the chance to show the world our magic. Be Seen, Be Heard, Be Felt.
