Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Joicy Thomas, Owner of JtC - Live your life to the fullest, located in Flowermound, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a Mental health outpatient program and offer psychotherapy services and also have an autism program that serves children below the age of 21 in their homes and in the community.

Tell us about yourself

I was a clinical social worker who enjoyed working with people 1:1 in the psychotherapy session. I am also a Christian counselor and just enjoyed providing Christian faith-based counseling to those who were seeking it. I took a step of faith and started JtC in 2018, and now four years have passed, and God has been faithful. We have 2 locations in MN, one in TX, and a thriving autism program.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To create a culture that Honors every provider and client and is purposeful in helping everyone feel like they belong. We are rooted in our motto, that comes from John 10:10, that God wants everyone to live to their fullest.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I honestly consider myself the Managing director of a business that God has created where God is the CEO. That puts me in a place where I need to be sometimes, and it also makes it a lighter task. In the end, I trust God that he will step in when He needs to, and my job is to always consult Him in everything I do

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Trust in God and know that He is watching your hard work and your efforts.
  2. Failures are like God's training seminars, they are harsh, but it always makes you better for the task God has prepared you for.
  3. Invest in values and have solid Value-based decision-making. Those values will keep your business afloat during stormy times.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I do take my business and the work that we do as a ministry. In one way or the other, we are touching people with compassion and kindness.
