What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a golf academy in the Orlando area and serve "Committed" golfers worldwide. Each has its own unique needs and improvement goals. I coach beginners through touring professionals.
Tell us about yourself.
I am John Hughes. I am an award-winning golf coach and an accomplished speaker and author.
With 30+ years of experience, I am a Golf Instructor to golfers of all skill levels. From beginners to professional golf, significant winners. I am one of only 403 individuals (<1% of all PGA Members) who've earned the designation of PGA Master Professional (Instruction). My experience, knowledge, and skills as a golf instructor allow you to realize immediate and sustainable golf skill improvement.
Therefore, you'll play to your potential. I delivers results within every Orlando Golf Lesson and every Golf School in Florida program he conducts Above all. You'll learn and improve during the best golf instruction you've ever experienced.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Surviving and succeeding in a market that requires discretionary income from my clientele. There are many choices for golfers when it comes to coaching in this area of the country. My clients' proven improvement results speak volumes about their commitment to themselves. And is a testament to what our academy stands for.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Continually evolving to be relevant and engaging the next generation. It's a never-ending process that requires you to check your ego at the door. As well as be willing to understand that others will value what you offer when you genuinely connect with them at their level.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Marketing. You have to make emails, texts, and phone calls to ensure you have potential clients in the future. Always continue the process.
- Team. As much as you can do by yourself, realize you can't do it all. You must start early by identifying who a good team member can fill in your gaps and be able to support the areas of your business where you are weak in talent.
- Persevere. Look beyond the shortcomings of the moment and keep your eye on the prize. And when you reach that goal, set another that inspires you to achieve it every day you own your business. Doing so will make your attitude more entrepreneurial and, in turn, provide you with more opportunities.
