What's your business, and who are your customers?
Former fitness and finance coach until a computer hack and theft put that business on hold. Now an author and speaker turned candidate/online marketer to discuss the importance of treating everyone with respect and the basics of liberty which include health and wellness. Customers are online and offline readers, exercisers, and liberty enthusiasts.
Tell us about yourself
I first launched my business in 2010 to share how Beachbody products helped me get into the US Marine Corps. Helping others to stay mentally, physically, and financially fit ties into my love of liberty and desire to help others earn and keep their own independence.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment was serving as a US Marine. My second most important achievement was breaking free from the rat race with passive income exceeding expenses as a result of my Beachbody business and sharing my story of how Beachbody products helped me become a US Marine Corps Officer. Being free from the rat race freed up time to build a finance business, attend business school, and have a shot at launching Earth Loans and running for public office. All of that was before the hack, which has put a full stop on growth and set me back years. I’m now sharing my story online at LibertyStrikesBack.com and offline as the libertarian nominee for Attorney General to share the importance of privacy, online security, and individual liberty.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As an entrepreneur/business owners, we have to wear all the hats: operations, logistics, marketing, messaging, communications, sales, and product. It’s a lot to do. And it’s especially challenging when as an internet entrepreneur, you have a hack attack or data theft. Some things are not so easily resolved and sometimes require a pivot.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start with your end goal in mind. That’s what will drive you daily. Then make a plan to get there. Research your goals, reflect on what you know and can share, identify and research opportunities, conduct a test market, and, if successful, increase your time and money commitment accordingly.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Not everything will work out as planned. I’ve gone through a hundred ideas, executed between five and 10, and succeeded on two or three. As long as you keep trying, you’re still in the game. Stay focused on your goals.
