Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in floristry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jodi Iverson, Founder of Jodi Iverson Florals and Design Inc., located in Oregon City, OR, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a wedding florist specializing in creating elevated designs unique to each of my couples. My customers are those who want a more tailored floral plan that reflects who they are and the vibe that they want to create for their wedding day.

Tell us about yourself

I have been working with flowers for over 32 years. First, I worked in the family flower shop, and then I started a small business. My motivation to keep doing what I do is the opportunity to create beauty with flowers and to bring joy through flowers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating florals that my couples fall in love with is my top priority. If I can do this with my client's weddings, each event would be considered a big accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The success of my business all depends on just me. I know I have put in the work when my calendar is full.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work hard.
  2. Network.
  3. You must have a passion for what you want to do. Nothing can replace putting hard work and effort into getting your business off the ground, but above all, you must be passionate about what you do.
