Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jessica Marx, Founder, and CEO of JMC Corporation, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a strategic advisory firm working with entrepreneurs globally to build sustainable businesses, giving our clients a life driven by freedom and new opportunities. We work primarily with female-founded brands generating six and seven figures.

Tell us about yourself

Prior to launching this business in 2017, I was overseeing national sales and corporate strategy for a multi-billion dollar start-up. I was responsible for managing over $100 million in annual budgets and over 500 employees. I worked alongside the CEO and Board of Directors to develop strategies for both the operational and sales divisions of the company. I have been there, done that when it comes to business.

After having my twins four years ago, I realized going back to an incredibly demanding career while working 80 hours a week wasn't for me anymore. I wanted to be present for my family and have the freedom I had long dreamed of while also making the highly lucrative salary I was used to.

It was then that I realized I could still be wildly successful working minimal hours while being a mom, married to an entrepreneur, and traveling the world. Using my knowledge and experience, I have now generated over EIGHT figures in revenue for my clients, applying the same methods I utilize for my own success.

Throughout my career and building four businesses from the ground up, I know what it's like to feel the fear, test the limits, and take risks; now, I teach women just like you to do the same.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our advisory firm has seen substantial growth in just four years but what is most exciting to me is the number of women we have been able to take past the million-dollar mark in their business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As women, we constantly put pressure on ourselves to say yes to everything. Learning to find balance and turn down opportunities for the long-term growth of the business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take messy action- don't wait for everything to be perfectly aligned.
  2. Establish a network; whether it be through a program or group, you will need other entrepreneurs to lean on.
  3. You will need a financial plan in order to scale and make the right investments.
