Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jill Ortiz, Owner of Jill Ortiz Fitness, located in Wellington, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Fitness and Nutrition Transformation Coach. I help goal-getter women over 40 break through weight loss plateaus, tighten and tone so they can regain their energy and confidence, and enjoy life without restriction.

Tell us about yourself

There was a time in my life when I felt hopeless, uncomfortable, and confused and thought something must have been wrong with my body/metabolism. I had a stressful, busy corporate job and no time for myself. I resorted to plastic surgery, which was a complete failure and left me feeling worse about myself than ever.

Over the last several years in the industry, I have MASTERED weight loss for the long term in a manageable way that works for the working or stay-at-home mom who feels all the stresses of daily life.

I was there.
I get you.
I've got your back.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is setting myself apart from the masses of other personal trainers and fitness professionals. Unlike other coaches and personal trainers who want you to be dependent on them for success, my style of coaching EMPOWERS my clients to become independently successful. By teaching my clients multiple no-fail systems for nutrition and various time-effective methods of weight training for a strong and lean body, they can confidently graduate from my 1:1 program. This helps me keep my client roster fairly small so that each of my clients gets my personal attention and care.

As a fitness professional who leads by example and thrives on positive energy, my clients have various opportunities to connect with like-minded women for extra motivation. This includes client accountability pods, fun group challenges and boot camps, Facebook groups, and 1:1 clients get first priority to snag a spot in my Jill Ortiz Fitness Retreats.

My clients will tell you I am relatable, motivating, transparent, and always go above and beyond the extra mile to help them become successful and keep their minds focused on their achievements.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a business owner is that you never feel like you've done enough. We set high expectations for ourselves and often feel as though we fall short, even if we are succeeding by other people's measures. Your head is constantly spinning as a business owner with ideas and fears that you aren't living up to your highest potential.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take messy action, don't wait for the perfect moment to start building, creating, and selling.
  2. Expect failures, but look at them as positive opportunities for learning and growth.
  3. Things always feel the hardest right before moments of growth. The only way you fail is if you quit, so always keep going and pivoting and appreciate the process along the way.
