What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Jill Hollander Vocal and Piano Studio. I teach both piano and voice to students ages 6 through adult. I have beginners through college kids/ adults going into music or musical theater as a career.
I prepare students for auditions, and contests, work on good technique, music theory, practice strategies, and the general enjoyment of music!
Tell us about yourself
I used to work hourly jobs followed by classroom jobs/ nanny jobs... they were all ok ..paid the bills..some better than others.. and I had my share of some wonderful people to a lot of politics and disappointment like most people find I would think... Being my own boss is probably what keeps me happy and going.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I feel that being able to do what my passion is as my job is my most extraordinary sense of accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing can be scheduling and ensuring policies are in line to make everything run smoothly.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Getting your business the way you want takes time and work. Be patient.
- Be willing to work long hours until it starts running more.
- Have fun- (if it's your passion..).
