What's your business, and who are your customers?
JFPT is a physical therapy office located in Los Angeles, CA, that also provides wellness services, including fitness training and full-spectrum infrared sauna sessions. Our customers range from individuals recovering from an injury, post-surgery, and chronic pain, to people looking for personal training, sport-specific training, and infrared sauna sessions.
Tell us about yourself
A passion for exercising and science is what got me interested in physical therapy. Problem-solving on a daily basis to assist people in leading a more active and healthy lifestyle is what keeps me motivated. What got me started in operating my own clinic was having a different idea of how to provide treatment to patients. In a fast-paced world driven by efficiency, especially in the healthcare field, many PTs use very few hands-on techniques with their patients because of short treatment times. Patients deserve better. The human touch is a powerful healing tool. So providing a less common approach of working with each client for 60 mins 1 on 1, utilizing manual therapy including massage, myofascial release, and joint mobilization with and without movement during the majority of our physical therapy treatment sessions.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Surviving the pandemic and lasting 5 years in business with a physical location.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Learning to wear multiple hats, from business manager to employee manager to marketer, and prioritizing all those different aspects without feeling or becoming overwhelmed. Definitely had moments of just wanting to yell and cry all at once. Slow deep breathing has been a lifesaver.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Do your research, create a plan, and do whatever it takes to achieve your goals but don’t be afraid to fail.
