Tell us about yourself
I have been a Master Vocal Coach for 17 years, coaching all levels of talent. Along with American Idol, I have coached singers who appeared on The Voice as well as America's Got Talent and Country Music's "Can You Duet," and have signed major record deals, just to name a few. Along with celebrity clients, I work with singers of ALL levels and ages. I'm also a multi-award-winning singer/songwriter.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My students have appeared on David Letterman, American Idol, The Voice, Nickelodeon, CMT's Can You Duet, CMT, GAC, Nashville Spotlight, Bobby Jones Gospel TV, and Music City Gospel Review, to name a few. They have opened for big-name acts like ZZ Top, and I have worked with Record Labels such as National Underground Records, Curb Records, Allure Records, and so much more. My clients also include hit songwriters who have written monster #1 hits for many artists like Blake Shelton.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is I don't get vacation pay or sick pay. If I don't work, I don't eat! So I teach for long hours, and I work hard. It is my passion, and I love what I do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be social on social media, market yourself and be good at selling yourself. It's not for everyone. Starting a new business of any kind, give it two solid years before you give up. The struggle can be real, but if it's for you, it will happen. Trust in God's guidance.
