What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Integrative Women's Health Institute is an online educational academy that trains health and wellness professionals to offer evidence-based integrative healing strategies for clients with women's health challenges, such as menstrual health concerns, infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum issues, and perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.

Tell us about yourself

I have run this company for over 12 years because I have been a women's health clinician and coach for over 20 years. I see how much work there is still to be done to provide women all over the world with high-quality healthcare. And, I believe that healthcare should be offered with a whole woman perspective, not just symptom management strategies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Reaching health and wellness professionals in over 60 countries with our educational programs.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing growth and delegating the workload. We have a great team, and there is a balance between delegation, management, and financial management that is a tightrope to walk regularly.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have an advisor who will challenge you to think about the risks involved with your business expansion.
  2. It's just as important to have people on the team who share your vision and are creative about navigating obstacles.
  3. Aim to be profitable from the beginning so that you are building something sustainable.
