What's your business, and who are your customers?
I teach people about their nervous system and how to live in harmony with it. This is done with the implementation of breathing techniques and self-awareness exercises.
Tell us about yourself
I started working with breathwork as an anxious English Professor trying to learn to live with the stress of life. Before I knew it, I was learning the science of breathing, coaching other people, and training thousands of people to live happier and healthier lives with better breathing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am the first breath coach in history to successfully create a certification for first responders. It is called Tactical Breath Training, and starting in 2023, it is beginning to be implemented in police training.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Most people work from 8 am to 5 pm. We often talk about how this is not a great thing. I don't completely disagree. However, when you work for yourself, there are no guide rails telling you when your work day is over. I often find myself working from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. When you love what you do, you are more likely to burn the midnight oil voluntarily. A dream and a passion for what you do can lead to having a hard time "calling it a day."
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Learn about how you work (your fears, your passions, what makes you excited), and create a business life that is compatible with it.
- Be patient with yourself. You're always learning.
- Don't be married to specific outcomes. Be willing to see the good, no matter how things shake out.
