Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jenny Belanger, founder of JennyB Designs, located in Reading, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am Jenny Belanger, the Founder and Creative Director of JennyB Designs, a web design studio for female CEOs and founders. We help them by designing beautiful websites that attract high-paying clients, make money, and give the CEO peace of mind they're set up right online so that they can focus on what they do best.

We want to help you ditch the website overwhelm and get a gorgeous, new website that books clients and makes money stress-free.

Tell us about yourself

My background is in the nonprofit world, and that's where I learned to design. When you work for a nonprofit, you find yourself wearing all the hats — and doing all the things. And this is so similar to where entrepreneurs find themselves. I really was able to understand the position we are in when starting a business, and I aim to help other women CEOs running companies be able to focus on what they do best and their zone of genius by ensuring their online presence is set up and working for them 24/7.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was truly just doing it. Making the leap, starting my own company, and then being able to find team members to support me on their journey. I'm so proud of the work we've done and all the work with my clients. It's been such a fun and rewarding experience, and I'm truly grateful to be able to work for myself and with the amazing people I help.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Oh, I would say mindset. Little did I know that a big part of success for me would include working on my mindset. It's hard and sometimes lonely running a business. The best thing I did was invest in myself with a few great coaches, a support system, and even some mindfulness coaching to help along the way. I'd say that attending one of Terri Hamilton's courses was really pivotal for me on my journey. And all I can say is that if you don't have support and are worried about investing in it, I can fully say that is what changed my business. Go for it; you won't regret it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Keep going, don't stop. Ever. Even when you aren't sure you're making any progress. It's there.
  2. Invest in yourself and your mindset. It's so super important.
  3. Find some peers to bounce ideas off of. Starting and growing a business can be hard and lonely, and having others to chat with it can make the journey a whole lot more enjoyable. (and successful)
