What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a creative strategist and business-building partner. I work with small to medium-sized companies helping them take their business to the next level by taking tasks off their plates that they either don't want to do, shouldn't be doing, or don't know how to do. A lot of the work I do is in the creative space, including social media marketing, newsletter writing, document design, and website design. I also work with owners to create systems and strategies to help businesses become more profitable.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business after working in nearly every facet of small business over the first 6 years in the workforce. Due to a major life change, I found myself needing work, and a friend recommended I start my business as a virtual assistant. Thanks to my connections over the years, my business has blossomed into what it is today. I love seeing other small business owners, especially women, succeed. I take my role very seriously in helping that success happen.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I increased my receivables by 600% in one year.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It can feel lonely until you find a community of like-minded, driven individuals. Having your own business often means working long hours with lots of ups and downs. But once you find the right community, it gets a little bit easier.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find a community first.
- Be constant and consistent in your marketing. The leads will come.
- Don't let your business become your identity. Find ways to take a break and enjoy life outside of your passion for your business.
