Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jenni Diamond, Founder of Jenni Diamond Health, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Jenni Diamond Health is an online workout platform that helps new and expecting moms exercise safely during and after pregnancy. The two programs we offer include The Prenatal Academy and The Postnatal Academy.
Tell us about yourself
Throughout my early career, I saw a consistent pattern of clients coming to work with me to resolve common injuries that new and expecting moms are more susceptible to during this stage of life.
With not enough hours in the day to help everyone I could, I saw an opportunity to have more impact on a greater scale. This ultimately led to the creation of The Prenatal Academy and The Postnatal Academy - an online exercise platform that helps new and expecting moms safely build strength and improve their quality of life during and after pregnancy.
With my training and education in Kinesiology (University of Western Ontario) and Master of Occupational Therapy (University of Toronto), all workouts are evidence-based and designed to improve the health and well-being of new and expecting moms.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is solving a gap in the marketplace where new and expecting moms can access safe exercise programming with fewer barriers to get there.
The Prenatal and Postnatal Academy are highly accessible, allowing moms to improve their physical and mental health regardless of where they are located at a much more affordable price point compared to traditional personal training sessions.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Knowing and accepting that I can't do it all. There is and will always be more that can be done, and I am working on reminding myself to take things one step at a time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just get started. It will never be perfect, and there will always be room to keep improving. The best thing you can do is just START and learn as you go.
- Speak to friends, family, and other experts in your field. Talking things through with those you trust will be incredibly productive and valuable for your business.
- Pursue your passion. If you love and feel confident in your product or business, you'll be much more motivated and happy in your day-to-day responsibilities as a business owner.
