What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Hamilton Fitness Academy is a one-on-one personal training studio, and our customers are anyone and everyone that is looking improve their quality of life and wellbeing.
Tell us about yourself
I started my journey as a business owner just over 4 years ago after I decided to leave my management position with a larger big box gym. My motivation came from wanting to provide my clients with an experience that no other studio could offer. Outside of the training experience they already loved, I wanted to make sure I coupled that experience with an environment that would fuel them to be their best.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My team and our members. The trust and respect I feel and get from each of them reminds me of exactly what I love and do!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner in the fitness industry has to be creating boundaries. In a career like ours, it's easy to spread yourself too thin to try and accommodate everyone, so it's important that you create boundaries so you have the time you need to focus on you and your business.
A business is only as strong as its leader so if you're going to lead, lead with intention and give yourself the space and time you need to be the productive owner you need to be.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be patient, trust the process and never celebrate like you've made it because there is always more work to be done.
