Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business solutions but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jayland Glenn, Founder & CEO of Jay Glenn Agency, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Jay Glenn Agency is a sales training firm maniacally focused on reducing the time it takes to onboard new SDRs. My customers are software companies, primarily in the SaaS (Software as a Service) industry.

The problem: the average SDR takes over three months to fully ramp.. and in many cases, it's due to a bad onboarding experience in the first 60 days.

Our solution: a fractional onboarding service that equips SDRs with the knowledge, sales skills, and practice to ramp quickly.. all tailored to the specific needs of our clients. Perfect for companies in the SaaS industry that need but don't yet have a dedicated resource for SDR training + For companies looking to upgrade their SDR onboarding program and quickly ramp new SDRs at scale.

Tell us about yourself

Me as a human: I'd describe myself as a curious, ambitious person with a passion for developing others.

Me as a professional: SaaS sales leader turned entrepreneur solving the problem of long SDR ramp times.

What made me want to start? I've wanted to become an entrepreneur since I was a teenager.. I always knew it would happen.. only a matter of time. It was my career path over the last eight years that led me to the company I run today.

Why I started an SDR training agency: I've spent the last eight years leading teams, consulting, and selling in the SaaS industry with a focus on the sales development role.. During that time, I had the privilege of working with over 1200 talented salespeople around the world. Those experiences gave me a deep passion for and fascination with helping people unlock their potential in the field of selling. The agency and the framework I use with my clients are a culmination of the top learnings I've gained during my career and what's led to the most success for those I've worked with.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm really early in my journey, so the best thing so far is making the decision to start!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Building systems that serve you and eliminating the ones that don't.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find something you'd do for free that people will pay you for.
  2. Make the decision to start. You'll never encounter a "good" time.
  3. Use tools like LinkedIn to leverage your network, especially if you're B2B.
