What's your business, and who are your customers?
Faces by Amoree is a beauty service provider. We specialize in non-chemical hair care services and basic ear and nose piercings. We cater to all hair types and pierce all ages.
Tell us about yourself
I recognized the absence of 'natural hair care' in the market. I wanted to satisfy the currently unmet demand here in Nova Scotia. With services like 'twist outs' and 'blow outs' available in the same space, it allows me to meet the demands of clients regardless of their ethnicity. I keep going for my clients; they are happy to come and sit in my chair, which also makes me happy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to not only maintain my business but also to expand it to include services like tape-in extensions, among other things, felt like an amazing accomplishment coming off the heels of a pandemic.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Time management. Your 'to-do list' is never completed; therefore, being effective and efficient with your time is of the utmost importance.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be specific with your goals. Generalizations pull you in too many directions and lead to very few accomplishments.
- Be intentional. With your specific goal(s) in mind, make decisions and take steps in those directions.
