Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jackie Klein, Owner of Jackie Klein Nutrition, Inc., located in Fairfield, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Jackie Klein Nutrition is a holistic nutrition practice focusing on helping its clients get to the root cause of their digestive discomfort, health, and weight-loss challenges. We do this by addressing symptoms like bloating, gas, indigestion, heartburn, and acid reflux through simple diet and lifestyle modifications and supporting nutritional gaps with supplementation where needed.

Tell us about yourself

I absolutely love what I do! I’m passionate about educating people on how to take accountability for their health by showing them how what we choose to eat can dictate how we feel and affect our overall health. At sixteen years old, I discovered a lump in my breast. After being evaluated by a couple of doctors, a cyst was found. One doctor wanted to remove and test for cancer. The other doctor asked me to change my diet by removing sugar, caffeine, and simple carbs for a period of time. I chose to change my diet and to be re-evaluated. I figured operating would still be an option if it didn't work. After making the dietary changes suggested, the cyst was barely there! That was such an eye-opening experience for me that it propelled me into studying holistic nutrition.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My greatest accomplishment as a business owner is simply helping people achieve their health goals in a healthy, more natural way where they have complete control. People are just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone reclaim their health. I have guided people to live healthier lifestyles and helped many people with conditions ranging from gastrointestinal disorders to diabetes to heart disease.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for me is delegating and giving up some control in areas of my business where I don't feel the strongest. To have a successful business, you need help. For me, knowing where I fall short and asking for help in those areas has been a challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find something you are passionate about. When things get tough, your passion will pull you through.
  2. Ask for help in areas where you may fall short.
  3. Always be genuine and give the best quality service. Not everyone may respond well to your service or product, but they will always remember how you and your employees treated them.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Jackie Klein Nutrition also helps other small and mid-sized businesses achieve their corporate health goals by conducting educational seminars and devising customizable group programs on the importance of nutrition. Together, we work to empower staff members to make simple lifestyle changes for optimal health and accomplish individual and team goals.
