What's your business, and who are your customers?
J Luxe Brands is a soy wax candle company that creates candles to meet self-care, gift-giving, and decor needs.
Tell us about yourself
I've always had a love for candles!! If I were buying a gift, it would be my first go-to! I dabbled in candle-making before, but when the pandemic hit, my anxiety really had a hold on me. I decided to find something to do that would allow me to focus and relax. I found my way back to stirring as it gave me a calm that nothing else could. Months later, my 14-year-old goddaughter committed suicide; back to stirring more and more wax, I went. I found so much joy in creating….. Creating feel-good gifts….. Gifts that made others smile. I find so much peace in stirring wax and the way the universe works; so many resources, success, and opportunities have come my way. I am beyond grateful to share a gift that can help others in so many ways.
I am currently working through the struggle of having space to meet the demand. The best way to get your name and product out there is to do events and pop-ups. The fear of catching COVID, catching COVID again that is. It's hard to stay behind closed doors when you need to introduce your product to the world. Due to the pandemic, we face supply shortages for materials that we need to grow.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is my ability to create and brand a product that people want. The quality and appearance of my product can be presented at any retailer or boutique. I love that I am able to create something that others can enjoy and appreciate.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Juggling the many hats that you have to wear on a daily basis.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Have a business plan, hire help and always look for ways to grow.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I am a local Chandler-based in Atlanta. I specialize in creating a variety of candles to help with many needs. We have candles for decor, which make perfect gifts candles with essential oils that can aid in reducing stress, anxiety, or tension. We also have massage candles that can aid in relieving pain and stress or to spice things up in the bedroom. I am known for curating events with candles and participating in many of Atlanta's local pop-ups. We've participated in major events like the Invest Fest hosted by Earn Your Leisure to the Jazz festival, which attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees.
Our most recent partnerships include The Black Girls Art Show, where we featured our Sip and Scent-themed booths and were able to interview many of the event's attendees.
