What's your business, and who are your customers?
Ivy Camps USA provides supplemental education to kids around the world, with in-person and online extracurriculars and holiday camps all taught by those at top US universities. Ivy Camps partners with schools, governments, and other academic institutions to provide interactive, premium education services in 75 different topics ranging from public speaking to business, all while maintaining FUN as the cornerstone of the learning journey.
Tell us about yourself
I started by creating summer camps, first in Colorado and then in China. Through the years of speaking with families, it was clear that a year-round educational product that focused on the experience of the child rather than purely a learning objective was a much-needed global service. As we expand throughout the world, seeing the positive impact we have on children and the potential to connect the planet's future generations together to understand one another through actual interaction can truly make the world a safer place.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to work with a great team.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Balancing the needs of the children, parents, and partners. When in doubt, we prioritize the child. That is our ultimate customer. If they do not have a great time with Ivy Camps, then we have not done our job.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Find what makes you happy, find what others agree is a good opportunity, and do the math ahead of time... really do the math.
