What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a professional, freelance makeup artist with over seven years of experience living in the heart of the prairies of Winnipeg, Manitoba! My customers range from bridal to commercial to corporate!

Tell us about yourself

I started using makeup at six years old. I've always had a passion for all things beauty. After having a wide variety of jobs, going to college, and working for a plastic surgeon, nothing seems to fit. One day my hairstylist asked me to team up with her. She would do hair, and I would do makeup for weddings. It was a dream team until she had to move cities :( I kept the business and went solo, and I've never looked back. Making people feel beautiful is my biggest motivation! When you look good, you feel good!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment in my artistry career is having my work published in various magazines and seeing my work in print!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a creative, I'm not the most organized individual. I lack organization, so it can be tough to tackle all the back-end things such as taxes, scheduling, and bookkeeping.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just do it. Don't wait because someone else will beat you to it! Don't compare yourself to others. Work your ass off and network.
