Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tina Talbot, owner of O’Hara’s Public House, located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

O’Hara’s is a local pub with ten different beers on tap, and we serve delicious homemade food. The staff is fun and competent. We have dartboards, and we are starting to host live entertainment again.

Tell us about yourself

I have been working in restaurants since I was a teen. I love the friendly feeling of pubs, and I really enjoy connecting with our clients.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Navigating through Covid successfully is definitely the biggest challenge I’ve faced.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I feel very responsible and very protective of my staff. I worry about their health and well-being. Also, it’s hard not being able to disconnect from my job fully.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do what you love. Connect with your clients. Hire people that share your work ethic.
