What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself
I had been a business owner for 10 years when I first began developing Intentionality. The formation of my methodology was a direct response to a rock bottom moment where I said, "I don't ever want to feel like this again." My wife had left me, I had lost a lot of money in a business sale, and I was suffering from burnout. I felt abandoned and like a failure. I decided how I wanted to feel and slowly and methodically put into place the principles and actions that would make that a reality and would teach others how to do the same. What motivates me each day is the opportunity I have to impact other people's lives by sharing my experiences. I have built trust and rapport in both the business and spiritual communities from being a multi-million dollar business owner and a leading breathwork facilitator around the world. The combination of sharing intellectual insights as well as the physiological transformation that breathwork provides is my secret recipe to helping people see that they can change the way their mind drives their behaviors and ultimately determines how they live their lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was being invited to feature on National Geographic's documentary show, Undercover Angel. I was dropped anonymously into an underprivileged community to find out their core issues and come up with a project that would support their needs. I founded a program in the Roma community of Fakulteta, Bulgaria, and worked alongside community leaders to form a family education center.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is the isolation you can feel from having to be a leader, an innovator, and a problem solver all at the same time. I am a member of the Entrepreneurs Organization, whose mission is 'to help entrepreneurs achieve their full potential through the power of life-enhancing connections, shared experiences, and collaborative learning,' and this has been an amazing support for me both personally and professionally.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Only surround yourself with the best people - make sure everyone on your team energizes you and owns their roles. If they aren't showing growth and providing results, then they aren't an asset and will detract from your business.
- Don't be afraid of failure - when things don't go as planned, then it is a clue to take another path. Often the biggest growth phases come from learning from what doesn't work.
- Don't be consumed by finding your purpose. There is a lot of pressure on people today to find their purpose, passion, life's work, etc. - that can be overwhelming and distract you from opportunities that are right in front of you. Focus on how you want to feel and invite things that enhance those feelings into your life, and you will start to see signs of the path that is right for you at this moment.
