Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lucas Catton, Founder & CEO of Innovia Behavioral Health, located in Roswell, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Innovia is a subscription-based behavioral health prevention and maintenance organization. We offer our members unlimited access to a wide variety of educational, experiential, and therapeutic support groups to help people Feel. Better.

Tell us about yourself

I've been working in the behavioral health field for over two decades. I've owned and operated various treatment facilities and helped others open and expand their operations as well. With Innovia, I wanted to create something truly different that makes behavioral health support much more affordable and accessible, where people could build meaningful connections to help lead healthier, happier lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've had a couple of moderate successes with other businesses in this space, but Innovia, by far, is the biggest project with the most potential as well.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The fact that at the end of the day, you're the one who has to be responsible for everything, despite how many employees or contractors you might have, it all ultimately rests on your shoulders. This is also why building a solid team is so important.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be willing to fail. If fear of failure is preventing you from starting, then you've already lost. Stepping out of your comfort zone and into the unknown is necessary for growth.
  2. Trust your gut instincts. This doesn't mean to operate from a reactionary level, but instead to really listen to your inner wisdom. Just because something worked for someone else doesn't mean that it is the right path for you.
  3. Be persistent. This is something I struggled with early on, as I wouldn't stick with something long enough to take it to the next level. Now I know that when you follow the other two points above, you must be persistent in continuing to push through those difficult times, especially when you are passionate about your product or service and the value it brings to others' lives.
