My experience in the education arena, the corporate arena, and the not-for-profit arena provided a solid foundation for me to develop my consulting business. I enjoy working in a variety of settings. Participants are encouraged to draw on their insights, personal experiences, and curiosity to discover how certain concepts, skills, or strategies can be integrated into their personal and/or professional lives with positive results.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Applying concepts and models that support continuous learning and development, I wrote a handbook that parents can use to support children in developing the attitude, behavior, and habits that lead to learning and achievement. Parents as Learning Partners. The program has been delivered, and the book has been sold to hundreds of parents through education associations, community organizations, and school districts.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Managing the unexpected when you have a tight time frame.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research so that you know your market, potential competition, and possible expenses.
- Negotiate with potential clients.
- Have enough savings to get you through several months of start-up.
