Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Josephine Fitzpatrick, Owner and Founder of Innovation Weight Loss & Healthy Market, located in Woodbury, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We service clients and customers all over the US. It’s all about eating healthy, loving your body, and living your best life. I hold each customer’s hand throughout the process and offer 24/7  support for weight loss or if they are shopping and just want to eat healthily. We have both an online and in-office weight loss program that teaches our clients how to become the very best version of themselves. Our store is open to the public, so you do not have to be on the program to shop. All of our products are prepared and portioned for healthy eating. We do not use chemicals or preservatives in any of our prepared meals.

Many of our clients just want to live their best, healthiest life. We believe in balance in our food and our life. We have everything to offer any customers from Plant Based - Vegan, High Protein, Low Carb, Gluten Free, No Sugar, MCT, and Keto. We also have a whole line of prepared detox items that include drinks, soups, ice pops, and lollipops. My goal is to offer options that cater to all types of customers regardless of their dietary restrictions, etc.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Nutrition Weight Loss Specialist. I graduated from St. Joseph’s college. I was always active and health conscious from the time I was a little girl. But what really inspired me was my family history. My father was a diabetic who had multiple strokes and amputations. He ultimately died when he was 63. I have a family history of cancer. My mom passed away at 59, and my sister at 53, both from Colon cancer. I have learned firsthand how our health is correlated to what we eat and how we treat our bodies from the inside out. I am 100%  involved in my business and with my clients and customers. My clients inspire me each day as I  see them progress with their results, and I am dedicated to inspiring them every day on the importance of being the healthiest they can be with how they look, live, and feel.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I just recently won the Long Island Premier Business Women Award for Entrepreneur. It was a  very exciting night. I am very proud of myself and my team. But in addition to this, I am also proud every day of the lives I change. Getting to see women and men change from unhealthy and unhappy to feeling amazing is one of the best feelings for me. I always feel so blessed that I  have the opportunity to do this every day and see their amazing transformations.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

You are never off. I have multiple full-time jobs in this one business. I have hundreds of clients online and in-store that I work with 24/7 through text and email. Along with this, I have multiple kitchens where we have all our products made. I have to make sure everyone is doing the correct job, from the kitchens to the store. I am very blessed to have an amazing staff, but I  literally work 24/7. I am never without my phone, so I can answer my clients, customers, and staff.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be okay with making mistakes. They are opportunities for you to grow. Be creative and try new things to keep everyone interested and excited. Always do the right thing. That sounds easier than it is. But I truly believe when you do the right things, even in the hardest situations, you will stay on your path, and your business will constantly grow.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don’t be afraid to fail. I have failed in so many things along the way, but I truly believe that is why I am successful. I never stopped. You can’t stop because something doesn’t work- you have to keep pushing yourself forward and remember it’s just as important to inspire yourself as it is to others. This brings me to one of the most important things - you have to LOVE what you do. When you love what you do, you will always find a way to get through even the hardest challenges.
