Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Valerie Rivera, Owner of Inner Solace Therapy PLLC, located in Mission, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Inner Solace Therapy strives to be a destination for total mental health and wellness services for women who struggle to find a healthy balance in their lives due to past childhood trauma(s). Inner Solace also focuses on helping couples reconnect and strengthen their trust and commitment to their relationship and each other.

Tell us about yourself

I dream BIG! I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur. Inner Solace was established at the start of the pandemic. Since then, it's become a space for listening, crying, connecting, and healing. My clients are what motivates me each day... it may sound cliche, but when you find your ideal clientele, you don't dread it; instead, it empowers you to do more.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The growth. I attribute the ongoing success of this business to my past and current clients, my family, my friends, and my community for their trust in me and my vision. Sustaining a successful business requires more than just doing; it requires others to also feel connected to what I do and how I do it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Making decisions! Big or small, all decisions can have an impact, positive or negative, and that's scary. I find myself vacillating with all types of decisions. Sometimes, I do extensive research and exhaust myself. I'm learning to trust my judgment by practicing self-compassion.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your own healing work! Process and heal yourself from childhood or early adulthood traumas that hold you back from becoming an exceptional entrepreneur.
  2. Outsource the tedious tasks of your business. Use your time to do the things that allow you to continue to feel inspired.
  3. Get yourself a business mentor that knows your specialty well. Ask questions, seek answers, share your ideas, and make it happen.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Quiet your inner voice that whispers doubts, tap into your curiosity, and lead with that. The power of your thoughts can boost your motivation and confidence.
