What's your business, and who are your customers?

I wear several hats; as a Management Consultant, I help organizations to plan and execute large-scale change initiatives in just 3 or 4 Months. As a Leadership Coach, I help organizations to develop their leadership talent through 1:1 coaching and group/cohort programs aimed at developing a community of leaders.

Tell us about yourself

I get energized by ideas! I love to co-create customized solutions with my clients to solve their toughest business problems. Similarly, I get much personal satisfaction by helping people become exceptional leaders not only at work but within their community.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've been in practice for more than 30 years and have weathered many storms, including the Y2K panic and a worldwide pandemic. To have persevered through these kinds of things and remain in business within a highly competitive industry is a huge accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There is an inherent loneliness that comes from being a business owner, and entrepreneurs must come to grips with this in order to flourish.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. No matter what, your business is about people - staffers, customers, other stakeholders - treating them the way you would want to be treated, and you have a basic formula for success.
  2. Get a trusted advisor - you will need a sounding board and someone with the experience to keep you grounded. Remember, even world-class athletes have coaches; you need one, too!
  3. Create a vision and present it as a story -- Be sure that it's vivid and compelling. Refer to it often to ensure that you and your team are behaving and making decisions that are aligned with where you want your business to be in the future.
