Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sharon Syce, Owner of IFA (Independent Field Advertiser, located in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an accredited IFA business presenter. IFA is the Network Marketing division of Clientele Life. IFA = Independent Field Advertiser. As the name/title indicates, I am not employed by Clientele Life. I am independent.

In my business seminars, online and physical, I teach people to generate an income. This business opportunity has celebrated 24 years on 1 July 2022.
This opportunity is available to all South Africans 18yrs and older as well as foreigners living in South Africa with a valid passport and work permit.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Registered Nurse who worked in the clinical field of training & development as well as a few years in the corporate world. My passion for people is what got me started in the business.

The alarmingly high rate of unemployment and poverty in our country is what motivates me every day to teach people to generate an income and build a business that they can one day leave for their children or introduce their young adult children too as well.

Teaching people that they do not have to wait on the government to assist them with grants or waiting for employment, but that they can start a business and, in the process, empower many others as well.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Becoming a fast starter in the Western Cape within six months of starting this business while I was still gainfully employed. This is an award given to people who worked hard during their first year in the business and put extra effort in to achieve their dreams and goals. I was also nominated to become a presenter for the business opportunity directly after that.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

To take ownership and always remember my 'why.' Why did I start this in the first place.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself.
  2. There's never a right time to start - Now is the best time to start.
  3. Be teachable and stay humble.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Be passionate about your business.
