What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is digital marketing that makes sense for small businesses. I can help new businesses get quality marketing services at a reasonable rate and help them save a LOT of money in the process, avoiding website redos and all things.
When I work with a more advanced business, we figure out goals for our marketing, what the client needs, the right marketing size, and our proposals.
Quality is HIGHLY important to us.
Tell us about yourself
I swore when I left my corporate job in 2013 after I got my MBA from Duke that I'd never write another line of code. So I focused on business consulting with small businesses and helping with social media. And I was a developer with years of experience with web design and user interfaces. I kept having people coming to me asking me to help them fix whatever mess another designer had left for them- and it has grown my business tremendously- because I generally do the fix and clean up the messes.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping hundreds of thousands of small businesses.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The realization that I can't do for everyone, even though I want to - I can't help everybody because they don't always want to help themselves.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Mind your costs - everyone is going to want your money; if you keep control of your costs, most things will flow.
- You're going to have to do ALL of it for a while - and that's for the best. Don't try to hire too soon, if you can avoid it. That will put more money into your pocket.
- Even if you think you suck at sales, work on the skill - it's learnable.
