Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in finance but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ghislain Larochelle, Founder of Immofacile, located in Montreal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the proud founder and CEO of Immofacile.ca, a real estate training establishment located in Montreal. Through the company, I pass on my expertise in helping people achieve financial freedom through real estate.

As an investor, author, speaker, and coach, I have, for more than 25 years of experience, supported thousands of real estate investors to achieve their goals, sold tens of thousands of copies of my ten books, conducted hundreds of conferences, events, and interviews in the media and I also wrote more than 800 real estate articles in newspapers and blogs.

Tell us about yourself

I am a graduate of engineering and holder of an MBA. However, I have always been passionate about real estate and training investors, and I wanted more than my engineer 9 to 5 job. I now own a real estate portfolio including more than 425 rental units, two shopping centers, two lots dedicated to the development of short-term rental cottages (250 lots for sale), and a construction project of 120 luxury units in the Quebec City region.

To those who might wonder: “But what more do I want to accomplish?” The answer is simple: My Big Why and primary motivation are: To positively impact the lives of at least 100,000 people in the next ten years by educating and guiding them in successful real estate investing. To those who might believe that my “to-do list” will soon be completed, I will answer this: A true passion never fades. It renews and reinvents itself at the same pace as the individual who experiences it!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping people overcome their fear of real estate investment, challenging and guiding them so they can fulfill their dream of becoming financially free through their passion. Also, on a personal basis, building my own real estate portfolio of several hundreds of units, shopping centers, and 250 parcel lots development for short-term rental cottages is a huge achievement and accomplishment that I am very proud of.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I am dedicated to ensuring my employees are well taken care of. Though it is not always easy to manage everyone’s requirements, personal matters, and such, I make sure that each and every one of them is heard and know that my door is always open. After all, having a successful business could not be achieved without them!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. I always repeat to all my students to seek help and educate themselves. It can be through a coach or any other way they find suitable for their personal goals. Successful business owners are surrounded by several people on a daily basis! The more minds are putting their knowledge together, the better the business will be.
  2. To run your business, choose your employees wisely and do not make the mistake of waiting months to hire the first one. Also, it is crucial that you know and understands your products on the tip of your fingers.
  3. My best advice to grow your business is definitely to make sure you know your customers and what you can do for them. Ultimately, they are the reason why your business exists! Also, building strong and focused marketing and sales teams that understand the importance of “what’s in it for them,” in which “them” obviously refers to our beloved customers.
