What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business provides digital marketing services specifically tailored for small businesses in the Los Angeles area, particularly those without an in-house marketing team. Most of my clients are small business owners operating mainly in the e-commerce space.

Tell us about yourself

I am a seasoned marketing professional who spent a decade specializing in SEO, working both in agencies and tech startups. My journey toward establishing my own business began with the realization that my true passion lay in empowering small businesses. Contributing to the success of these companies, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic, resonates with me on a deeper level than working with larger corporations. Each day, I am motivated by the knowledge that my efforts help these businesses flourish and, in turn, enable their owners to achieve a better work-life balance so they can spend more quality time with their families.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been witnessing the impact that digital marketing has had on my clients' businesses. Knowing that I have played a part in elevating their online presence, increasing their customer base, and ultimately improving their financial stability is both humbling and exhilarating. It is truly gratifying to see the tangible results of hard work and dedication.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest aspects of being a business owner is the constant challenge of balancing the demands of the business with my own personal growth and well-being. As a passionate entrepreneur, it's easy to become consumed by the day-to-day duties and the pursuit of daily improvement. However, I've learned that it's essential to carve out time for self-reflection, self-care, and personal development, as these elements are crucial for maintaining the resilience and creativity needed to navigate the ever-changing business landscape (especially with the rapid advancement of AI at the moment).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Optimize micro-moments: Identify and capitalize on the small instances in your customers' daily lives when they may be most receptive to the way you improve their lives (this goes beyond products/services). By being present during these micro-moments, you can create a powerful connection with your customers.
  2. Prioritize mental bandwidth: Focus on streamlining your decision-making process by automating tasks, delegating responsibilities, and simplifying choices. This will help conserve your mental energy, allowing you to dedicate more attention to strategic thinking and creative problem-solving.
  3. Implement reverse mentoring: Pair experienced team members with younger employees, allowing the latter to share their perspectives on emerging trends and technologies. This can help your business stay ahead of the curve and ensure the entire team is continuously learning and growing. We often feel the need to mentor the youth when in reality, we can learn just as much, if not more, from them than they can from us 'older' adults.
