Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle Feerst, Founder of iElevate Technology and Consulting LLC., located in Mt. Pleasant, SC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

iElevate is a digital life and career coaching program and platform for neurodivergent young adult job seekers. We are based in Charleston, South Carolina, and have coached eight clients into steady employment recently; and have worked with 30 young adults over the past three years while building our business platform to succeed in career transition, job acquisition, job retention, and relationship success. The secret of our program lies in the peer coaching relationship, curriculum, and accountability. Now that we are live and full-time, we hope to coach 30 young adults a MONTH or more on our weekly digital workshops and career coaching curriculum. We are also building a coach training program for parents and professionals.

Tell us about yourself

I am driven daily by excellence - the pursuit of impact and changing lives - at scale and on an individual level with who I am (all I have to do is show up fully, and lives are changed!) This curriculum is also a dent in my field as an Occupational Therapist, showcasing that this is a huge area of need for Occupational Therapists like myself to train and coach teens and young adults into purpose-driven vocational pursuits, employment support, and mentoring.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment is that this business has been profitable, marketed, and talked about, and I receive regular monthly referrals - that alone is HARD TO DO! You must wake up daily, pray, build, and continue to pour positivity into your work. You can NEVER GIVE UP!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Unpredictable income streams which is usually a marketing issue. As well as the need for continual improvement. Managing a NEVER ENDING to-do list. Decision-making for growth strategy. Sometimes, dealing with difficult clients/customers (usually, I deal with GREAT ONES!) Service to others above self at all times is MASSIVELY CRITICAL.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You must be ALL IN full commitment. Don't back down.
  2. You must CHANGE WHO YOU ARE ALL THE TIME: You have to upskill, uplift, and drive yourself into a position where you are taking full ownership and responsibility for your company.
  3. Fear/Doubt will kill your business. You have to push past fear and doubt. Full send.
