What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am the founder of IB Yoga+Barre. We started our journey as a physical semi-private studio located in a little neighborhood in downtown Atlanta called Old 4th Ward. We have since pivoted to a corporate wellness company. At the moment, we are consulting various startups in Atlanta on integrating work-life balance.
Tell us about yourself
Yoga has been part of my life since the age of 4. I learned the practice of yoga from my biological father in Russia. He was a military personnel who integrated Yoga practice into his daily life.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is seeing the people who practiced Yoga for the first time with me now becoming instructors themselves. Seeing the beautiful rippling effect of sharing the gift of yoga has been magical.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing for me has been learning to pivot with the world & the current pandemic. We are used to having yoga classes in person & usually.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would encourage everyone to really get to know the industry and the management side of the industry in particular. For example, teaching a class is much different than having to manage talent and run the operation side of things. Make sure to have a solid business plan & a great mentor who has experience in your industry.
