Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Margaret Joyner-Johannes and Ivan Johannes, founders of I AM PEvo, located in Oviedo, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a husband and wife team of Reiki Practitioners and Orgone Artisans. We often get inquiries from people who are in search of Reiki Infused Orgone Devices to assist them on their healing journey. We make devices for all ages, all types of people, and also pets.

We have recently expanded to include other products like apparel for all ages, accessories, decor, and pet products that are Reiki/Spiritual themed. We are products for anyone who wishes to incorporate positive affirmations, yoga, reiki, and meditation into their lives.

Tell us about yourself

We studied business in college together because having our own business has been a dream for both of us since we first met. We started learning Reiki in 2014, as well as making orgone devices.

Through years of practice of both and finding much joy in them, we decided that we would create a business that incorporates Reiki and Orgone. We knew we wanted to help others, and we knew we wanted to be our own bosses.

This was the catalyst that got us started as entrepreneurs. We get to help others on their healing journey, as well as work from home doing what we enjoy doing, but also being able to be home with our kids and work a schedule that is flexible is what motivates us.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our goal has always been to help people from our hearts. Every device we make, we pour our whole being into. For every design we create, we think of our clients. When we receive feedback that states how our products/services have improved someone's situation, we have accomplished what we set out to do.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Since it is just the two of us, staying organized as we expand has to be the hardest part. We are, however, working to correct this weakness. We are researching and culminating a plan to tackle where we need improvement. Since we are expanding what we offer, we have to restructure our day to make time for even more responsibility. And upon reflection, it really is just a bump in the road. A growing pain, if you will. For us, though, this is a part of the journey. And we wouldn't trade it for anything. We can do hard things.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Talk to other small business owners/entrepreneurs. Ask a lot of questions. Learn as much as you can.
  2. Be prepared for challenges. You will quickly learn a lot about yourself. Use this to grow yourself and your business. Through challenges and adversity, we can blossom!
  3. Take your time to learn what you can about running a business. In our situation, we run absolutely every aspect of our company. We are constantly having to keep up with technology, do research, and evolve and improve.

Sitting still is not an option. Learning what you can always give you a leg up and better help to prepare you for challenges you may face along the way. Remember, when a challenge pops up, talking to fellow entrepreneurs will always be a great place to start for finding that solution.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Persevere. That is one of the best things we can add. We persevered through many storms. We made many mistakes but took those as lessons and kept moving forward. We also had many milestones, so we celebrated them. We have also had several setbacks and failures but made a plan to overcome them. We have had many ups and downs. Through it all, we never gave up. You only fail when you give up. Otherwise, those are just lessons in disguise.
As an entrepreneur, you are given a unique opportunity to live a life you prefer that you have created. Let your passion motivate you and inspire you.
