Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Ibbotson Rodriguez, Owner of Hypnosis Haven, located in Littleton, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a Virtual Hypnotic Coach, I empower survivors through the transformations of a lifetime by connecting them with their future selves to finally heal the past and enjoy the now in a 3-step process. My clients are typically women who feel stuck, uninspired, or disconnected from their authenticity and are ready to fully heal so 'they can make a habit of living the lives they want to live.'

Tell us about yourself

I am the wife and caregiver to a disabled combat veteran motivated by a commitment to understanding the brain's capacity of mindset management, especially in survivors. I am a survivor myself of personal as well as global traumas.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

"All hypnosis is self-hypnosis," yet most consider hypnotists as mental magicians. My greatest accomplishment is the self-hypnotic process I developed to de-hypnotize the authentic "I am..." that everyone has a right to determine for themselves with confidence comfortably. Combining the science of neural plasticity with the possibility of quantum potential, a hypnotist is the personal trainer of the brain your life has been craving. I empower my clients how to harness that capacity for themselves. I teach them to quickly access deep insight that illuminates how they can action plan, creating a roadmap to the life they enjoy living. "Enjoy the journey and love the destination; it's your life to determine!"

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, it is the feeling of responsibility. My husband's care is my responsibility, our financial well-being has become my responsibility, and my health will always be my responsibility. Those are the top 3 responsibilities that I focus on. Caring for my clients is the joyful responsibility that makes it all worthwhile and the absolute whole reason to keep trudging through the more tiring moments.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Research your why - upside down and sideways. Know it better than you know anything other than yourself. When you need motivation or inspiration, your why will always be a well of resources.
  2. Do your own personal work. Being an entrepreneur will open every aspect of unresolved inner demons that need addressing. It's amazing to me how many of my clients end up being entrepreneurs.
  3. Keep celebrating every incremental moment of success and every incremental moment of improvement. Celebrate every learning opportunity, even if just the fact that it wasn't more harshly learned.
