What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself

I’m a mom of teenage boys, a banker by day, and an inventor/entrepreneur by nights & weekends! It all started with a kettlebell swing, a mirror, and oh my GAWD…A CAMEL TOE! After catching sight of my camel toe while working out, my own embarrassment put me on a mission to solve this problem for all women. The first attempt with an insert tucked in my undies at the gym ended with the fitness instructor asking if “it” belonged to anyone in class!! Oops…maybe the insert needed to be stitched into the undies. That experience was the genius of HUX!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

HUX was nominated and won Techalliance Limitless 2021 Award less than six months after launching our business. It was The Peoples Choice Award that honours a standout in the innovation space.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It has been four years in the making, 22 prototypes later, 70-80 hour workweeks, juggling two jobs, no experience or contacts in the apparel industry, raising two teenage boys with my husband…I had to work to keep doubt at bay.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

You don’t have to have all the answers. If you take one small step every day in the direction you want to go…you WILL get there. Make the work you do about helping others, and you will NEVER go wrong.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

While we have invented an amazing product that solves a real problem for women, HUX is about so much more. My goal is to inspire others to chase their dreams as I chase mine!! We all have what it takes to live the life of our dreams…we just need to find the courage within to do it!!
