What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hues of brows beauty is a professional permanent makeup studio. I specialized in ombré powder brows that have helped women achieve their brows goals. Creating their dream brows for each individual's unique face and enhancing their natural beauty making them feel more confident. Not feeling committed to getting it permanent? I also offer services such as henna.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Huong Nguyen; I'm a cosmetic tattoo artist. I was introduced to the beauty industry a few years ago by a friend. I started off getting my cosmetology license but soon figured doing hair, lashes, or facials wasn't it for me, so I dived deeper into the permanent makeup side of the industry and said this is it! I enjoy creating art. So why not use my talent to make someone's day? It's a rewarding feeling to be able to lift someone's confidence.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Getting my studio ready with proper licenses and inspection to open up to the public is an accomplishment in itself. But as a business owner, you really never settle by saying that's your biggest accomplishment since there are so many more goals to tackle.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Time and resources. The first year of business will be investing your money back into your business instead of spending it on unnecessary things. You have to learn to say no to things that are distractions and prioritize your time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just start!
- Don't settle for people that aren't aligned with you.
- Stay motivated and disciplined. Having to wear so many different hats can cause decision fatigue and feeling like you're being pulled in a hundred different directions.
