What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hotline Hobby is a mobile radio controlled shop and track. We provide a toll-free 1-800 hotline/live video chat for RC customer support, custom and replica builds, and events from corporate to birthday parties. Our mission is Powersports, and our goal is to serve as a gateway into the world of motorsports while connecting families and various age groups with these amazing vehicles. All of this is done physically and away from the screens!

Tell us about yourself

At age 12, I got my very first full-time job at a local hobby store. The rest is history. I spent ten years of my professional career in the luxury automotive business. After some changes in the world, I started to think about what I wanted to create in the world, and Hotline Hobby was born. My mission is to give children the opportunity to work with their hands and have fun outdoors while also bringing them closer to their parents or other age groups to connect and learn. My motivation is to bring lasting experiences that leave an impact!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment thus far would be feedback from adults and children confirming that my intentions with this business are being delivered. Watching the excitement on a child’s face as their Hotline Hobby birthday party unfolds is the best feeling of accomplishment for me!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for me has been balancing my intentions of what I want to create in the world for others and how to stay profitable within!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Become as certain as you possibly can about all that will come along with your proposed future business. This is a very hard thing to do for excited entrepreneurs.
  2. Have a support system. No matter what, there will be ups & downs and times that you question yourself. Having people around you that believe in what you’re able to achieve in the avenue you’re taking is instrumental so you can be reminded during tough times.
  3. Money money money or sweat equity, of course. If you don’t yet have the money work hard enough, and you will find it, or someone will find you who wants to give you theirs. Most important is number one, stay determined.
