What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a mobile sauna business. One of our saunas is located at Zócalo Food Park in the vibrant and diverse Walker's Point neighborhood. It will be there for the winter season. We recently added a second mobile sauna that is available for overnight rentals at your home and also full-service events. We focus on corporate events, team building, and employee recognition. It is entirely off-grid, with a wood-fired stove, solar panels for lights, and a built-in changing room.
Tell us about yourself
The authentic sauna experience sunk its claws into me while traveling in Sweden. I traveled to Finland and Estonia to continue my exploration of their sauna culture. It just makes sense to have this experience in a cold city like Milwaukee; it has completely changed my relationship with winter. I was unprepared for how rewarding the experience would be. People arrive stressed and burnt out. They leave smiling, soothed, and renewed. It's amazing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've created a service that people adore. It's not for everyone, but the people who get it, really get it.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Since I'm doing something totally new to the city, dealing with permitting has been one obstacle after another. I've been ready to quit many times, but I've been surrounded by people who've been able to help me navigate things and encourage me to continue.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just start. You have to start moving in some direction.

- Make connections with people in the community. Send emails. Ask questions. Ask to meet for coffee. Learn from other small business owners.
