Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Revella Nesbit, Executive Director of Hope Matters, PLLC, located in Charlotte, NC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am in private practice as a licensed mental health therapist. Individuals who seek me out are managing various mental health conditions and life transitions.
Tell us about yourself
I have always been intrigued by the human mind and our behaviors - simply why we do what we do. I recall the satisfaction I felt on the first day of my practice, and I was amazed that I get paid to do what I love. I especially enjoy seeing people transition successfully through life's challenges.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Over the last year, I became a full-time entrepreneur. It was, and is, scary, but I'm so proud of myself for "doing it afraid."
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It is challenging to manage a steady flow of clients. As a solo entrepreneur, there is only you. Work = income. No work, no income. You have to be creative and have the drive to be successful.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have people you can consult with that are smarter than you.
- Have money saved before you become an entrepreneur.
- Be flexible and willing to pivot when necessary.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The freedom I have as an entrepreneur is beyond my expectations. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. That's ok. If it is for you, plan and take the leap.
Where can people find you and your business?
