Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in home organization, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Indianna McMechan, the founder of Room to Breathe Inc, a home organizing company in Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

Home Organizing! We help in many homes and businesses to get systems set so everything is easy to maintain and it gives our clients more time to focus on what truly matters to them in life.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a business owner?

I finished my unrelated degree and nothing was quite clicking for me. I wanted to feel fully passionate about what I did. I thought what do I love doing and organizing was the first thing that came to my mind. I looked up if people did it for a living and found Room to Breathe. I got hired on and eventually bought the business. Everyday my team and I are excited to go to work for the amazing before and after's we're able to produce in our clients homes but most importantly for the huge weight we get to lift off our clients shoulders. Leaving them with a sense of relief and refocus in their lives. It is such a pleasure to be able to do that for people.

As an entrepreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

Expansion of my amazing team! The industry is growing big time right now and that means we're able to expand our team of amazing ladies and therefore take care of that many more clients. I find the key to an amazing and growing company is having a spectacular team.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?

The biggest challenges are often the biggest rewards! The growth of my team is one of our biggest successes but is also one of the hardest things. Finding perfect fits for your team is often tricky but its always worth it even when you work very hard to find them and sometimes have to wait until they come to you. It's better to wait for the right ones than to hire anyone who is bang on for your company.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

1- Find what your are passionate about and want to wake up and do everyday.

2-Hire out your weaknesses. Don't try to be a super person. Focus on what you do best and hire others to do what they do best in any areas you struggle.

3- Surround yourself with amazing support that inspires and encourages you and find yourself a great team to work alongside you. Those are the folks who will make it all last and last well.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Always stay true to you and your values. There are lots of pushes and pulls but stay steady and be you. The world doesn't need any more hog wash, it needs folks who are authentic to self and working hard at that as they move forward.
