Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Holly Haynes, Owner of Holly Marie Haynes, LLC., located in Hilliard, OH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help female entrepreneurs build businesses online without being dependent on the social media algorithm. I do this through simple systems and strategy that is doable on a part-time schedule. I have found most business owners have very little time to actually work on their business. I created the Crush the Rush Method to teach them the foundation of scaling on a schedule that works for them and their priorities.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a business strategist who loves a good plan and flow chart and is crazily passionate about teaching women like you how to build your dream job and scale to 6-figures and beyond without sacrificing your weekends or priorities.

I believe strongly that you can create a routine you love with the right strategy, product suite (what you are actually selling), and simple systems to create a lifestyle that works and a business that scales without burnout. There is a difference between time management and time freedom. Let's work on finding freedom.

After 22 years of corporate strategy work for Fortune 500 companies, I ditched the office to build a business with my husband full-time. (Oh, and we did it in less than 2 years, during the pandemic with twins!) You can usually find me chatting biz strategy on my podcast "Crush the Rush", raising our girls in Columbus, Ohio, and probably binging Real Housewives or planning our next vacation!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2 years, I was able to retire and my husband from our corporate lives. Today we work together in our businesses (he is in real estate) and truly design our own schedules. I was also able to build and launch a top 75 podcast and am super excited to have over 100K downloads!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Honestly, it always comes down to time and mindset. Both are so precious. The right focus and attitude can literally change your entire path. What do you want to do? Why do you want to do it? And how are you going to get it done? I try to remind myself that the most important things will ALWAYS get done. But wouldn't it be great if we all had a few extra business hours each day?

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Consistency trumps talent every time. You don't have to be the best in the game, you have to stay in.
  2. The right strategy and focus can compress decades into days. Slow down to speed up. Take the time to map out where you want to go.
  3. Sometimes, the best step in business is to create the whitespace to have more fun and be more creative. Everything works better when you recharge.
