Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mandy Ferdman, Founder of Holistic Growth Agency, located in Oceanside, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Holistic Growth Agency is a boutique marketing agency specializing in integrative and functional health businesses. This can include companies in Functional MD, Osteopathy, Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Functional Neurology, Biological Dentistry, Chiropractic, Counterstrain, Holistic Massage, Ayurveda, TCM, Holistic Nutrition, Energy Medicine, and so much more.

Tell us about yourself

I've been involved in digital marketing for over seven years and have been the co-owner of two agencies in the past. Holistic Growth Agency was born out of my passion for the field of functional medicine. I am a nerd for all things health, wellness, and biohacking. I strongly feel this is a more sustainable approach to health and well-being.

The main goals of HGA are:

  • To support functional health practitioners to have a thriving business so they can continue to have more impact in a sustainable way.
  • To guide the right people to the right places so they can self-discover how life-altering functional health is, and so they can then spread the word to others, allowing this cycle of optimal living to grow exponentially.

When people feel good, they do more good. This is our approach to adding more goodness to the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Running my business while still showing up as the present mother I want to be. Having a fantastic team is what makes this possible.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think every business owner knows there are things you cannot account for that show up unexpectedly. Sometimes this can be additional expenses or a hire that was not a good fit. Luckily, we haven't had to encounter too many of those.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Choose something you have a personal connection to or love. Otherwise, it will be hard to sustain motivation during challenging times.
  2. Be realistic about what you want to take on and what you want to delegate out. If you are doing tasks you hate, you'll lose your drive.
  3. Get support. Hire a business coach or mentor to help you start with a good foundation. Figuring out every single piece yourself is overwhelming and is not sustainable. There's an easier way to do things, so don't take a masochistic approach to do it all yourself.
